ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). "126. Christ Church, where Washington worshipped. / Alexandria, Va." showing its exterior in vertical format, red caption underneath; post card with undivided back published by Foster Reynolds, mailed OCT 15 1906 at Mount Vernon on the Potomac (clear cancel, DPO, 1878 - 1928) to Captain C. E. Stroud in Sandusky Ohio, light album impressions at the corners, traces of cancel ink in the upper & lower front borders, attractive. $5.00 vw-v
ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). "Christ Church, Alexandria, Va." including some of the adjacent cemetery, unevenly divided back (circa 1908) postcard published by Leet Bros. for W. A. & Mount Vernon Railway, unused, light album marks on back, long but faint internal crease, wear near lower left front corner. More fully the electric railroad company to which the back refers was the Washington, Alexandria & Mount Vernon Railway. Established in 1892, it merged with another railroad on October 17 1910. Its lines were important because they encouraged the growth of the streetcar suburbs of Washington DC. Google their full name & you will not get a single postcard in only about 10 returns. $6.00 vcr
ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). "CHRIST CHURCH, ALEX. VA." interior without people, sepia-tone Azo (squares in corners) real photo with good composition & contrast (but focus a little fuzzy), unused, good edges. $3.00 vi
ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). "Custis-Lee Mansion, Arlington, Va." black & white on undivided back, made in Germany, mailed 1909, long crease, minor corner wear & rounding, small spot of toning in caption area. $2.25 v&

ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). "INTERIOR, CHRIST CHURCH, ALEXANDRIA, VA." circa 1916 postcard, small corner crease, faint internal crease, minor corner & edge wear, long but faint bend near top. Sold but still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged (almost 2x original postcard area) 100-dpi scan in .jpg format. $1.50 vi
ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). "Penn-Daw Hotel / U. S. Route No. 1 / 2 Miles South of ALEXANDRIA, VA. / 5055-29" showing its central group of bungalows, circa-1929 post card with much later mailing at Rhoadesville Virginia, trivial wear to the top corners, tiny bottom corner crease, light toning near the left front edge. Check your albums; they put out many different, but the word 'bungalows' on the back was contrary to the image they wanted to project. So not many of these exist. $3.75 v(a)mr
ALEXANDRIA (FAIRFAX COUNTY). State of Maine. "From a photograph taken at Alexandria, Virginia, on May 7, 1864" real photo reproduction, showing her at a dock. Operated by the Bay State Steam Boat Company, Falls River Massachusetts. Chartered during the Civil War by the US Army Quartermaster Corps to transport troops, and later lent to the US Sanitary Commission for use as a hospital transport. APPALACHIA / INTERMONT / MINERALVILLE (WISE COUNTY)."Bee Rock Tunnel - 3-C-109 / Shortest Railroad Tunnel In The World - Big Stone Gap, Va." sepia-tone real photo postcard mailed 1957 at Olinger Virginia (2 different cancels, plus an older Bailey VA. postal marking), slight curl to the paper, paper clip indent at top center with a little rust on the back. A rare postcard, probably because there are 2 inaccuracies in the caption: located in Appalachia Virginia, not Big Stone Gap, the tunnel is actually the world's second shortest railroad tunnel--as any resident of Crandull Tennessee could tell you! When we searched the Internet, we found no other offers, present or past, and no one was even exhibiting it. $10.00 v(a)se
