"C53HG" Banjul The Gambia shortwave (18 MHz) QSL card used 1994 by Gary Cohen, who was with AID in the US Department of State. A beautiful card decorated with drawings depicting natives. Mr. Cohen is noted for his several efforts to address health issues in the developing world. $3.00 gm&
C. BLUFF & K. CITY R.P.O. TR23 / JUN 4 1916 clearly struck as transit marking on post card mailed from 2 days earlier in Wyoming to Palmyra Missouri. Image side shows "Make me an / invalid for life" a line drawing of an injured little boy being tended to by a little girl nurse (named for each child neatly penned beside). One corner bend which does not affect the philatelic markings or the drawing. $15.00 cm-r
"Greetings from Burma" appeal for World Vision, which ministers to children & needy lepers, Burmese stamp attached, but meter mailed from California, 1959 (meter reads 1995 incorrectly), black & white postcard, one edge nicked. $4.50 bcm(p)r
"Greetings / from / Irving / Illinois" in glitter added to a postcard with fanciful art depicting an airship made mostly of violets, addressed & messaged to Miss Estella Matkins in Fillmore Illinois but unmailed, minor wear to the bottom corners, some of the glitter rubbed off. Interesting message from ailing writer--'I went to Nokomis two weeks to Mrs. Rungg's to take treatment from the Osteopath and now go to Hillsboro when I am able...' The Hillsboro DO was John J. Pleak, who visited Nokomis once a week. Hillsboro, Irving & Nokomis are all in Montgomery County. $8.00 i(i)mgb

"I. M. CASEBEER M.D. PHYSICIAN AND SURGEON" with a prosperous looking man standing by his automobile in front (probably the doctor himself); uncaptioned (so we use all of the building sign) sepia-tone Azo (triangles up) real photo postcard, two tiny corner creases, the other corners with minor wear. The doctor with this distinctive name (Americanized from the Germanic surname Käsebier) had a practice located in Newport Indiana before World War I; then he moved to Clinton Indiana. Which is it? Newport! Here is the message on back: 'Does this look natural? Did you ever go to the river in that auto and did you every walk up the big hill and drive down? MANAGEMENT AVIATION, LIMITED (United Kingdom). Continental black & white photo of its Bolkow BO-105 (G-AZOR) helicopter on the ground, good focus but contrast is low. Here undoubtedly in Wales, it later became G-WAAN with the Great North Air Ambulance service in Cumbria. Rare. $7.50 amu
"MUTUAL RELIEF SOCIETY" assessment No. 10 for 1884, 2-color printing on government postal card, mailed from Syracuse by their secretary pro tem H. J. McCormick. Deceased were: G. M. Hauck of Rondout NY (lung hemorrhage), C. H. Dill of Elmira NY (diabetes), E. M. Thomas of Hoosick Falls NY (typhoid), Moses Wells of Schaughticoke NY (consumption), Hiram Stevens of Liberty Corners PA (stomach ulcer), & E. H. Shedd or Rochester (hydropericordiam). "Runleigh's / REMEDIES / FLAVORING EXTRACTS/ GROUND SPICE" salesman with satchel by his horse-drawn wagon, unused Azo (triangles up & down) real photo post card with small bottom corner crease, rest of edges are good. The only mention we could find of his remedies was in a 1915 Medical Directory, so this particular business was short-lived. However, we are told that its successor business was long-lived. In particular the Rawleighs company was large & very successful using direct marketing, and its Internet business survives today. Rare! "THE ORIGIN / OF BATH / Bladud, the son / of a British King " with art pertaining to leprosy, postcard with unusual subject matter, fairly fresh. That probably mythical king of the Britons was said to have contracted leprosy while being educated at Athens. He escaped imprisonment back home (for his condition) & discovered that pigs having mud baths did not suffer from skin diseases. Uncaptioned black & white postcard showing the delivery wagon of Emerson Drug Company of Baltimore Maryland being drawn by two horses, advertising signs on its side read 'Bromo-Seltzer / FOR / Headaches', 'TRIAL / 10˘ / SIZE' & picturing a bottle; unused, back paper browning with age, most of front toning is light but there is a small dark spot partly in the left border; corner creases are faint but some are long; mild corner wear.
