"BATIK SEMAR / SOLO - INDONESIA / 8A2ITU" Yogyakarta QSL viewcard showing a batik tulis maker applying melted wax, special prefix call to commemorate the 20th World Telecommunication Day below; dates to 16-20 May 1988, small upper corner crease. The batiks of Solo, also known as Sala or Surakarta, are known for their use of sogan (dark yellow color). Sold but still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged (about 400% of original print area) & enhanced 144-dpi scan in .jpg format. $2.00 ip(b)
"BOGASARI DUA / JAKARTA" showing the Indonesian flag geared bulk carrier underway, stern view; 3.5"x5" color photo taken by a sailor; a little dark but the focus is good so details are there. This is the ship that collided with a Panamanian flag bulk carrier Midas off Geraldton Washington on 5 March 1996. $7.50 is(o)w

"Djakarta, Indonesia" showing bus & auto traffic before the building of the Netherlands Trading Society (Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij), in vertical format; well done home-made (and, hence, unique) postcard mailed 1963 at Mount Rainier Maryland, small corner crease & edge wear across the top. $1.50 i. Another adjacent scene of that public square immediately to the viewer's right, this time in horizontal format, post card mailed 1963 in Riverdale Maryland, corner crease. $1.50 i. Both for $2.75 i.
"Djokja. Wajang Orang." unused sepia-tone postcard numbered s 48648 on back, lower right front corner creased twice but not too noticeably. When we searched the Internet, we could find only one other offer, and that at a price higher that ours. $5.00 i

Weyrich-Lawang, Java // Gezicht op Vulcan 'Smeroe' hoogste berg van Java" showing an eruption of the highest mountain in Java, Netherlands-Indies briefkaart with very late usage at Java South Dakota, mild edge wear, speckles of cancel ink in the front sky, very light toning both sides. The upper left addressing is for a convalescent facility that is not shown. The name of the volcano is often seen as Mount Semeru or Gunung Semeru. $4.50 ivm

INDONESIAN ANGKASA CIVIL AIR TRANSPORT. Black & white photo of its Bristol 175 Britannia 102 (PK-ICA) on the ground, good focus & composition, but image is dark with low contrast. Rare. This airline acquired the aircraft in January 1969. $5.00 ai
"Kembang Djepoen / Soerabaia" an animated street scene with pedestrians, bicyclists & autos, 'ROEMAH MAKAN MOERA' vertical sign on the rightmost building; unused real photo postcard with divided back & glossy finish, minor wear to one lower corner, otherwise good edges. The spelling of the city name is currently seen as Surabaja. $8.00 i
KLM / ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINES / KONINKLIJKE LUCHTVAART MAATSCHAPPIJ (Netherlands). Unused regular-size real photo postcard showing its Fokker F-VII (H-NACC) parked near some small buildings. Caption reads "Verkeersvliegtuig Fokker F-VII der Kon. Luchtvaart Mij." This historic aircraft was specifically designed for the Amsterdam - Batavia Netherlands Indies route, and it first made that flight in 1924. KLM logo on back. Sold but front side still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged (about 771% of original print area) & enhanced 200-dpi scan in .jpg format. $2.00 a(p)nni

MANDALA AIRLINES. Unused regular-size post card showing its Lockheed L-188C Electra (PK-RLG) with motors running at Meda in July 1984, printed in Switzerland, near mint. On November 30 1985 this aircraft made a wheels-up landing at Medan-Polonia Airport; fortunately there were no fatalities but the aircraft was written off. Shown above right. $10.00 adi*

On July 9 1997, this aircraft crashed while attempting to land on one engine at Ambon-Pattimura Airport Indonesia; all 3 aboard perished. $15.00 adi

"m.v. 'Atjhen(sic)' / Gross tonnage 518,23 Length 170'-10" / M. V. 'Atjeh' is one of the smallest coaster / belonging to the K.P.M. (Royal Packet Navigation). The correct spelling of the name is Atjeh as can be read plainly in the image itself. Circa-1940 black & white photo with interesting details typed on back (usual ports & cargo), the size of a regular postcard, imperfectly rectangular, good focus & composition & contrast. Location is necessarily the Sumatran coast of Indonesia. Built in 1939 & hijacked by the Japanese in 1942. Rare: the only image of it we have ever seen in anyone's stock. $13.00 is(c)

On January 31 1993, while flying for Pan-Malaysia Air Services, this aircraft crashed into Mount Kapur in Indonesia, killing all 14 aboard. $12.50 aimd

The community had been the scene of social conflicts & news of those conflicts was sometimes discouraged by the Indonesian government. $5.00 is
