Built in 1876 it plied the Columbus trade from the 1890's through 1912, and was dismantled at Mobile in 1914. SETH WARNER MONUMENT AND HODGE MEMORIAL LIBRARY, ROXBURY, CONN." hand-colored (and, hence, unique) Collotype postcard published for Burton Hodge, mailed in the 1940's, several raindrop ink smears on back, stamp folded over the top edge with noticeable wear nearby. "Copyright 1905 by the Rotograph Co. / 4508 The Historical Mounds, Idlewilde Park, Newark, O. / Handcolored" including a group of resting children for scale, post card with undivided back, name written on back, good edges. The mounds were engineered by Indians of the Hopewell culture, 160 BC - 310 AD (by carbon dating). In 1905 the mounds shown were being used as part of an amusement park operated by R. C. Lingafelter. This little-known amusement park was between Bucyrus & Galion, a business venture of the Ohio Central Traction Company interurban line which connecting the two towns.
